What is Whenly?
Whenly helps parents find age recommendations for hundreds of childhood activities, based on scientific evidence where it exists, and on the collective experience of our community where it doesn't.
Not medical advice
Whenly does not prescribe, diagnose, or recommend. We aggregate publicly available research and real parent experiences to give you a starting point: always consult your paediatrician for decisions about your child.
How it works
Scientific sources
We analyze peer-reviewed studies and guidelines from recognised health organisations.
Community votes
Parents share their real experience. Votes are anonymous and weighted by confidence and family context.
Consensus age
We combine both sources into a single recommended range: always shown with its confidence level.
What Whenly is not
A substitute for your paediatrician. Every child develops differently: our data shows averages, not rules.
A parenting guide. We give you context, not instructions.
An authority. Our community data reflects shared experience: it can be wrong, and we say so clearly.
About this project
Whenly is a one-person side project, built by a first-time parent who had too many questions and not enough straightforward answers. No team, no funding, no agenda: just a tool I wanted to exist, so I built it.
The data comes from published research and real parent experiences. I keep it honest and I keep it simple.
